We aim to build a fairer and kinder world through an extensive programme of non-religious ministry, events, projects and social justice work. We welcome all people of all backgrounds, sexualities, ages and abilities – and we nurture a supportive, caring and welcoming community.

New Unity has long since offered meaningful ceremonies and celebrations designed to mark many different stages of life. If you are looking for a ceremony for a life event not listed here, please email us.

We are able to offer wedding, commitment, child dedication, celebration of life, funeral ceremonies and more. These ceremonies or celebrations can take place at our historic Hackney venue, the Newington Green Meeting House. We can host your guests in-person or by using our state-of-the-art digital tools designed to let loved ones around the world join in the ceremony or celebration from afar. We welcome people no matter of sexual orientation, gender identity or faith. Each ceremony or celebration is bespoke.

Weddings/commitment ceremonies

New Unity is licensed to perform weddings and commitment ceremonies. We were the only congregation in Britain to refuse to carry out any weddings until same-sex marriage was legal. Celebrations of life/funerals/memorials

A personal and participatory funeral or memorial ceremony is an extremely important way for the bereaved to make sense of a death, to honour the departed, and to process the feelings that come along with loss. New Unity - which has long offered deeply meaningful personalised funeral and memorial ceremonies - is now making these services available via hybrid gatherings involving a mixture of in-person and online attendance.
