Our regular Sunday Gathering. An opportunity for wisdom, joy, solace, and community – followed by a healthy dose of caffeine, cake, and conversation. Gatherings include live music, a story for children, singing, poetry and literature, a talk from our minister, and time for sharing joys and sorrows.
The theme of this week's Gathering is ‘Evolution & Revolution; How Things Change’. As we look around our world today, many of us feel deeply concerned. Much of the world seems to be moving in a direction that’s counter to the one we see as healthy and sustaining. There’s always been a desire for change and it comes from many perspectives. The pressure for change is sometimes modest and sometimes enormous. Change has come gradually and it has come suddenly - with huge disruptive shifts in individual lives, societies, and on an even larger scale. So…what kind of change do we want now? The gradual evolutionary kind, or sudden revolutionary shifts - with all the disruption that entails? Do we need a revolution around issues such as climate change? Authoritarianism? Racism? Classism? We’ll explore what might be possible.
