Non-Violent Communication (NVC) is the language of connection. It’s a practical way to bring empathy, honesty, strength and compassion into our personal and professional relationships. It can help build bridges of connection to individuals, couples, families, teams, organisations and communities. In keeping with the aims of NVC, we're interested in learning 'that is motivated by reverence for life, by a desire to learn skills, to contribute better to our own well-being and the well-being of others'.
This is a self-led group, and is free-of-charge. We take it in turns to lead the session, preparing a few exercises or highlighting a particular NVC principle. We support each other in continuing to develop our NVC skills, and we use our time together to put those skills into practice. Our NVC levels vary from person to person, but we all do have some basic NVC knowledge. Beginners are welcome, but we ask that you do a bit of preparation beforehand by watching this short film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LuPCAh9FCc. (For anyone interested in doing some additional research, we also recommend 'Nonviolent Communication: a Language of Life' by Marshal Rosenberg.)
Although participants don’t have to attend every session, we hope that they’ll be able to commit to attending most of the sessions, in order to deepen their own understanding of NVC, and their relationship with the other group members.
